JOIN THE LOCAL FOOD MOVEMENT

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The goal of the project Pooling and farming is to drive commitment and enable the tenants at Lappkärrsberget to co-order locally grown and organic food together. We have started arranging pools since Spring 2020 and hope more students will join the existing pool. We will also offer special guidance to those that would like to start new pools throughout the autumn months.

In partnership with GetGaia, the creators of an indoor vertical hydroponics kit, we will also host a series of workshops on tools and practices for sustainable living. These workshops will be held between September and December 2020 on the topics of indoor growing, bees & honey, zero waste & compost, and cooking from scratch. We will also host a FARMERS MARKET where you will be able to meet the local producers that have their products available in our pools.

FOCUS ON LOCAL, ORGANIC AND SMALL-SCALE

We like to work with small organic farmers that produce nutrient dense high-quality foods that are beneficial to human and environmental health. For this project we are focused on local farmers and local production, but it is also possible to start pools with cultural items and foods you may not be able to find at major retailers in Sweden. Ultimately it is up to you, the pool coordinators and participants to choose and suggest which farmers and suppliers you would like to co-order from.

MEET THE FARMERS

You have helped us put together a short-list. Have a look here.

The picture below is Adam Arnesson. He is not yet on the list – but doesn’t that picture inspire you?!

WHY POOLING MATTERS

pool.farm is simply a tool that makes it easier to arrange logistics and payment for both you, your neighbors, and the farmers. We function as a not-for-profit group, which means we take very little to keep the platform running and the cost of goods is determined by the farmers themselves. By co-ordering, you make it feasible, both in terms of money and time, for these small farmers to bring goods to you at an affordable price. This also reduces the carbon footprint of your food not only by shopping local & organic, but by aggregating many orders to one delivery point.

We recommend you first join our existing Lappis pool to get a feel for the platform and experience how pooling works. Click here to go to the Lappis pool. If you would like to coordinate your own pool click here or contact us here for guidance through the process.

The current Lappis pool places orders every week. Pool members, please note:
– we expect payment to confirm your order
– sometimes the orders cannot be fulfilled in full, we then cancel the relevant part of your order

WORKSHOPS

Due to recent guidelines from the Swedish authorities, our plans are a bit changed. We will update this shortly.
